b. Hakaluki Haor is one of the major wetlands of Bangladesh. The land area of the haor is 18,386 hectares. The haor supports a rich biodiversity and provides direct and indirect livelihood benefits nearly 190,000 people.

c. Hakaluki Haor was declared an Ecologically Critical Area in April 1999. The government of Bangladesh declared it.
